Welcome
to the 181st Seabee Battalion, United States Naval Sea Cadets. The Berkshire Council, Navy League of the United States is our sponsor. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a federally sponsored nationwide youth association.
The 181st Battalion currently
consists of a unit of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, (NSCC) The
NSCC is for young people between the ages of 13 through 17, (more on qualification standards can be found here). We also have a NAVY LEAGUE CADET CORPS Platoon for young people age 11 to 13. The NSCC is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, sponsored
through the Navy League of the United States.
181st Battalion has cadet openings
for the current academic year for young people who have ambition, self-discipline, and a strong academic background.
In addition to learning about the four sea services and the long maritime tradition of the United States, Sea Cadet training
provides Cadets with a solid foundation for building academic and social skills, teamwork, and critical thinking.
The 181st Seabee Battalion meets
at the MASSACHUSETTS NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY, 161 Vin Hebert Blvd., Pittsfield, Home of Det. 1, Company A and HHC, 26th Brigade Special Troops
Battalion. Our unit’s Officers and Instructor staff is made up of Military Reservists, Veterans
and professional people in medicine and public safety. We currently have openings for the Officer Corps also. (More Information on officer qualifications can be

The goals of our unit include:
- Developing an appreciation for Naval History, traditions and customs and their
role in national defense.
- Developing a sense of pride in our nation, positive qualities of patriotism,
courage and self-reliance, confidence and strong moral character and good citizenship traits.
- Developing an interest and skill in seamanship and seagoing and aviation subjects.
- Increasing the advancement potential of cadets who may later elect to serve
in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine.
- Maintaining a Drug, Alcohol and Gang Free environment
